First-Crop sire Tapiture tallied his third winner on June 1 when Hopeful Growth scored a narrow decision over Good Shabbos in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies at Monmouth Park (VIDEO).
Tapiture if the first Kentucky-based freshman sire of 2019 to record three winners. All three have come at different tracks and in maiden special weights.
Hopeful Growth let those more intent on the lead go to the front, not commencing her rally until mid-way on the turn. She made the lead with a four-wide move at the top of the stretch, then out-dueled Good Shabbos for the win.
Owned by St. Elias Stable, Hopeful Growth was bred by Phillips Racing Partnership. The winner is a half-sister to Bashford Manor S. (G3) winner Ten City and is out of Maiden America, whose sister Wonder Again earned $1.4 million and won five graded stakes.
