Higher Power will make his final start in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) before becoming the newest addition to the Darby Dan stallion roster.
Higher Power will try to improve on last year’s Classic, where he finished third in a valiant effort. The 5-year-old has participated in a steady diet of top-level races since his breakthrough win in the 2019 Pacific Classic. To date his earnings stands at $1,534,648.
Trained by John Sadler for Hronis Racing, Higher Power drew post six in the 10-horse Classic, which goes as race 12 at 5:18 p.m. ET. Flavien Prat, Higher Power’s regular rider, has the mount.
Higher Power is a son of leading sire Medaglia d’Oro out of the top-class Seattle Slew mare Alternate, who is also the dam of millionaire Alternation and multiple stakes winner Interrupted.
Higher Power will begin his stud career next year for a fee of $10,000 S&N.
