First-time starter Lady Danae flew through the Saratoga stretch to break her maiden on the grass by two lengths on Friday afternoon (VIDEO).
The chestnut filly is Klimt’s eighth winner, trailing only Gun Runner in terms of North American winners by a Freshman Sire. Klimt will have several opportunities to add to his total with six entries over the upcoming weekend, including Rumble Strip Ron making his first stakes start,
Lady Danae, in post 8, got a wide trip in the 5 1/2-furlong sprint. She was a half-dozen lengths from the front in the early stages, then went six-wide into the stretch to mount her bid. She surged past the field in a furlong and drew off late to stop the timer in 1:01.81 on the firm turf.
Lady Danae was a $210,000 at this year’s OBS Spring 2-year-old sale by Scott and Evan Dilworth, who own the filly with Randy and Susan Andrews. She was bred in Kentucky by Machmer Hall and Carrie & Craig Brogden.
