Gambling Girl forged clear in the final furlong of the $120,000 Joseph A Gimma S. on Sept. 23 to register a 1 ¾-length victory in the stakes debut for the 2-year-old daughter of Dialed In.
The bay filly was coming into Friday’s seven-furlong race off a resounding 10 ½-length maiden win at the same distance on Aug. 24 at Saratoga. Facing just four foes, she sat about three lengths from the lead through the first quarter-mile. Entering the turn, she came three-wide and was in a three-way battle for the lead at the top of the stretch. Post-time favorite Miracle proved the strongest challenger down the lane, but Gambling Girl turned her away late to finish in 1:27.62 on a fast main track.
Gambling Girl is owned by Repole Stable, who purchased her for $200,000 out of the 2021 Fasig-Tipton NY-Bred Preferred Yearling sale. Her record is now 2-0-1 from four starts, with earnings of $132,210.
The winner was bred by Gallagher’s Stud and hails from the family of multi-millionaire and Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady.
Dialed In, who has seven crops of racing age, leads all sires of his generation in 2022 by stakes winners. Lifetime, he has accounted for 51 stakes horses and the earners of more than $33.5 million.
