First-Crop sire Bee Jersey was represented by his first stakes winner on Oct. 1 at Prairie Meadows when My Happiness won the $100,000 Iowa Sorority S.
The 2-year-old filly also was her sire’s first overall winner when she broke her maiden earlier this summer. She has now earned $99,384 for her breeder/owner/trainer Christine Hicklin.
My Happiness found herself last of seven after the gates opened in the six-furlong Sorority. She soon settled into stride and began to make up ground steadily on the backstretch and into the turn. She was three-wide around the bend and confronted Bonnieview on the lead at the top of the stretch. Those two were together inside the final furlong, when My Happiness edged clear to win by 1 ¼-lengths (WATCH RACE).
Bonnieview, a daughter of Not This Time, finished second.
