A colt by Tapiture that had posted a :09 4/5 work at the Under Tack show was tabbed for $220,000 during the Wednesday session of the OBS Spring 2-year-olds in Training sale.
Hip No. 381, consigned by Global Thoroughbreds LLC, agent, was secured by Louis Cella.
The chestnut colt, foaled in Kentucky, is out of the Bluegrass Cat mare Foxbeau and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Jumeirah. Deeper in the pedigree is third dam Tizso, who is a full sister to Hall of Famer and Horse of the Year Tiznow and Grade 2 winners Tizdubai and Budroyale. Tizso is also the dam of Grade 1 winner Paynter.
Tapiture, annually a leading sire of winners among his peers, has a half-dozen stakes horses as well thus far in 2023. He commands $7,500 S&N.
