Whatchatalkinabout drew off with authority in the final furlong of the Oct. 16 New York Breeders’ Futurity to win going away by 3 ¾-lengths.
This was the first stakes win for the 2-year-old son of Dialed In, who was making just his third lifetime start and his first over a sloppy racetrack.
Drawn in the outside post in the field of seven, Whatchatalkinabout was in the three-path for the entire six-furlong trip. He stalked the leaders for three furlongs before making his bid coming into the stretch. A three-way battle for the lead ensued until inside the final furlong, when Whatchatalkinabout left his foes behind to score his second lifetime win.
The winner, who has now banked $162,178, is owned by Ice Wine Stable and was bred by Newtown Anner Stud.
Dialed In has had another banner year, with a pair of Grade 1 winners, 15 stakes horses, and earners of over $7.5 million to date. Darby Dan recently announced his 2024 fee at $15,000 S&N.
