Julias Dream asserted herself in the final furlong of the $125,000 Gowell S. on Dec. 23 at Turfway Park to score by 4 ¼-lengths in the six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies.
Julias Dream is the fourth stakes winner of the year for Flameaway, which is the most for any First-Crop sire of 2023. The Darby Dan stallion’s progeny earnings stand at $1,728,019, fifth on the First-Crop list.
Julias Dream was always prominent Saturday’s race. She closely pursued Baraye for the first half-mile before taking the lead in upper stretch. She repelled mid-stretch bids by Baraye and Pipit and won going away in 1:11.21 on the synthetic surface.
The chestnut filly has now won three of her four lifetime starts and earned $161,124 for owner Talla Racing LLC. Julias Dream was bred in Kentucky by David Soblick and sold to her owner for $180,000 at the 2023 OBS Spring 2-year-old Sale in April.
