Darby Dan Farm has set 2020 stud fees for its roster of nine stallions that will stand the upcoming breeding season, led by Dialed In, who will stand for $20,000 S&N. The roster also features Shackleford and Klimt who will each stand for $10,000 S&N; Tapiture, a leading freshman sire of 2019, will stand for $7,500 S&N, and new to the roster is multiple Graded stakes winner Flameaway whose fee will be $7,500 S&N.
Dialed In, a leading cumulative fourth-crop sire this year, is represented by 16 black type horses in 2019, including multiple stakes winner and Grade 2-placed Chalon, multiple stakes-winning 2-year-old filly Onyx, and Dubai World Cup (G1)-placed Gunnevera. Dialed In is the sire of 27 black type horses lifetime and $16 million in progeny earnings.
Shackleford, the second-ranked Fourth-Crop Sire and No. 1 sire of his crop by Graded stakes winners with three, is the sire of 16 black type horses in 2019. His top runners include Promises Fulfilled, winner of the John A. Nerud S. (G2) at Belmont Park, Danuska’s My Girl, winner of the Rancho Bernardo H. (G3) at Del Mar, and the Desert Stormer S. at Santa Anita, as well as Phantom Boss, winner of the Bashford Manor S. (G3) at Churchill Downs.
Klimt, a son of Quality Road, saw his first-crop weanlings sell for up to $170,000 this year. One of America’s best juveniles of 2016, Klimt won that year’s Del Mar Futurity (G1) by 4 ¼ lengths and also annexed the Best Pal S. (G2). He covered more than 400 mares in his first two books and will have first yearlings in 2020.
Tapiture, a five-time Graded stakes-winning son of Tapit, is a leading first-crop sire by number of winners with 21. He is represented by four stakes horses, including stakes winner Sky of Hook and stakes-placed Peruvian Boy, Gone Glimmering, and Axiomo. He is also the sire of impressive debut winner Specially, named a TDN Rising Star for her auspicious debut in a Keeneland maiden special weight in October.
Flameaway, an ultra-consistent son of Scat Daddy, won five stakes, including the Dixiana Bourbon S. (G3) at Keeneland and Saratoga’s Skidmore S. at two after breaking his maiden on debut. The following season at three, he captured the Sam F. Davis S. (G3) over subsequent Grade 1 winners Catholic Boy and eventual Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Vino Rosso at Tampa Bay Downs, and the Kitten’s Joy S. on turf at Gulfstream Park. He added a victory in the Challenger S. at Tampa at four and retires with earnings of $911,634 after winning on dirt, turf, and synthetic surfaces at distances ranging from 4 ½ furlongs to 1 1/16 miles.
Darby Dan will once again be offering various incentive programs in 2020 to provide value to breeders, including Profit Protection, Share the Upside, Black-Type Bonanza, and Goldmine 20/20 Match Program.
