Tapiture upped his First-Crop win total to seven on Saturday at Arlington Park when Peruvian Boy nailed front-running King Snake to win a five-furlong maiden special weight by a nose (VIDEO).
Tapiture’s seven winners leads all Kentucky-based First-Crop Sires and is second nationally. His juveniles are also doing exceptionally well in the auction ring, bringing an average of nearly 15 times his stud fee.
Peruvian Boy, owned by Stud Recoveco LLC, was behind horses early on, moved up on the turn, and seemed to be destined to the runner-up spot until surging in deep stretch to snatch the win in the final strides.
The winner was bred by Peter Koechlin and is out of Lee Ann W, who also has a Tapiture yearling.
