Chainsaw City relished the switch from the main track to the turf in her Sept. 22 maiden special weight win at Remington Park, winning the one-mile contest for 2-year-old fillies to become the fifth winner for Copper Bullet [WATCH RACE].
The Darby Dan stallion is in the top 10 on the 2023 First-Crop Sire list and recently got his first stakes horse when Copper Em finished second in the $500,000 Untapable S. at Kentucky Downs.
Chainsaw City, making her first start around two turns, got away well and tucked in on the rail just behind a trio of dueling pacesetters. Boss On the Run got away from the field going into the turn, and after a sustained run, Chainsaw City caught her in the final sixteenth and went on to win by 1 ¼-lengths.
The winner is owned and trained by Shawn Davis and was bred in Kentucky by Winchell Thoroughbreds. Chainsaw City’s dam Coal and Ice has produced four winners, including the multiple stakes-placed More Ice.
