Top-five First-Crop sire Klimt was represented by his 10th winner on Sept. 3 when Cousin Greg scored a two-length maiden win at Ellis Park.
The bay colt dueled with Willie Has Hart for nearly the entire six-furlong trip. Willie Has Hart had the slight advantage until the top of the stretch, when Cousin Greg poked his head in front. The two were close until the final sixteenth, when Cousin Greg pulled away under a hand ride.
Cousin Greg races for Sunderland Racing LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Moreau Bloodstock International, Inc.
Klimt will have many chances to add to his winners total over the Labor Day weekend, with eight runners over the three-day holiday. Stakes-placed Rumble Strip Ron will attempt to become his sire’s first stakes winner in Monday’s $500,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile S.
