Gambling Girl drew post 3 in a full field of 14 fillies in Friday’s $1.25 million Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs.
The 3-year-old Dialed In filly was a stakes winner at two and most recently placed second in the Apr. 8 Gazelle S. (G3), which is run at the same Oaks 1 1/8-mile distance, at Aqueduct.
Gambling Girl will be ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., who has been aboard the filly in six of her nine lifetime starts. She is owned by the Repole Stable and trained by Todd Pletcher. Repole purchased Gambling Girl for $200,000 at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling sale.
“I’m fine with it. We weren’t too worried about the draw with this filly. She’s tactical,” said Pletcher succinctly after the draw.
Dialed In, a perennial leading sire of winners, recently accounted for Californian S. (G2) winner Defunded and Group 1 winner My Opinion (IND).
The Kentucky Oaks is race 11 on Friday, with a scheduled post time of 5:51 p.m. ET.
