She’s Fire gave top-five First-Crop sire Flameaway his third winner July 7 at Belmont Park when she rambled to a 2 ½-length tally in a six-furlong maiden special weight on the inner turf course.
The 2-year-old filly, who was second in her June 12 debut, looked like a winner at every point of call. She set quick fractions of :22.17 and :45.25 before turning for home and continued on strong in the lane to win comfortably in 1:09.21 on the firm turf.
She’s Fire picked up $49,500 in victory for her owner Gail Rice. The bay was bred in Kentucky by Connie Brown and Bill & Phyllis Adair. She’s Fire is the second foal out of My Wish List, who has four stakes-winning siblings. This is also the family of 2-year-old Grade 1 winner Seattle Meteor and Grade 1 winner A Phenomenon.
Multiple graded stakes winner Flameaway, whose 2023 fee is $7,500 S&N, will have several chances to add to his growing list of winners over the weekend, with six entries across the country, including his first stakes runner in the $75,000 Everett Nevin S. on Sunday.
