Klimt moved into the top three on the First-Crop sire list on Friday when the colt Barone Cesco put in a game performance in victory in a 5 1/2-furlong turf maiden special weight at Saratoga.
The 2-year-old colt won the $80,000 contest by a neck in gate-to-wire fashion, covering the distance on the firm turf in 1:04.17.
Barone Cesco, who was making his career debut, is owned by Cammarota Racing and was bred in Kentucky by McKee Stables, Inc. The colt’s dam, the stakes winner Very Very, has produced eight winners to date.
In addition to his impressive tally of winners, Klimt’s filly Quality Bet is stakes-placed and his filly Candy Slim is a Group 2 winner in Russia.
