Dialed In’s Grade 1-winning 3-year-old colt Super Stock won Tuesday’s Zia Park Derby for his fourth career stakes win while boosting his earnings to $1,151,677 WATCH RACE.
The winner of this year’s Arkansas Derby (G1), Super Stock was a deceptively easy 1 ¼-length winner of Tuesday’s 1 1/16-mile contest. Facing just three foes, Super Stock, under Irad Ortiz, Jr., let Pirate Junction lead the field for the first half of the race. The bay colt went to the lead on his own shortly thereafter, then was basically hand-ridden the rest of the way to finish up in 1:44.73 on a fast track.
Super Stock, owned by Irv Woolsey and Keith Asmussen, won the Ellis Park Derby this summer, and also took the Texas Breeders’ Futurity during his 2-year-old campaign.
Super Stock was bred in Kentucky by Pedro and P. J. Gonzalez. Out of Super Girlie, Super Stock is a half-brother to Grade 1-placed Boujie Girl.
Dialed In’s runner have won or placed in 42 stakes, with lifetime earnings over $27 million to date. He will stand the 2022 season at Darby Dan for $15,000 S&N.
