Bobbin Tail and Shesabidformidable staged stretch-long battle before Bobbin Tail prevailed by a neck on the wire to give the 3-year-old Tale of Ekati filly her first stakes win in the $70,000 Iowa Stallion Filly S. Saturday at Prairie Meadows.
A Dream Walkin’ Farms homebred, Bobbin Tail was making her stakes debut following an 11 1/2-length maiden special weight romp on June 5. She handled the step up in competition with great determination as the top two finishers cleared away from the field in the stretch, with the third-place finisher some seven lengths back.
Kentucky-bred Bobbin Tail is out of Bobbin’ Robin, who is a half-sister to Grade 1 Ruffian S. winner Swift Temper.
Tale of Ekati has had four stakes horses over the past 30 days, including Grade 1-placed Quinta Nota and Indiana Derby (G3) runner-up Sermononthemount.
