Tivis, a 4-year-old daughter of Tale of Ekati, chalked up her third lifetime stakes win with a very determined effort in the $75,000 Mahoning Distaff S. on Nov. 21 at Mahoning Valley Racetrack.
The Hillburn Racing Stable LLC homebred won the six-furlong race by a neck over Dancin At Midnight after a stretch-long duel. Tivis came from third in the early stages to engage Dancin At Midnight at the top of the stretch. She stopped the timer in 1:11.39 on the fast main track.
Tivis, whose previous stakes wins came in the Southern Park S. and First Lady S., is now 8-4-3 in 20 starts and has earned $306,545. Her dam Preseli’s Pulpit has also produced the stakes winner Out for Fun.
Tale of Ekati, sire of Grade 1 winner and top-10 First-Crop sire Girvin, has four stakes horses this year and will stand for $5,000 S&N in 2023.
