Here’s the Spider put in a sustained bid to get her first black type win in Saturday’s $100,000 John W. Galbreath S. at Mahoning Valley.
The 2-year-old filly is the seventh stakes winner and 17th overall stakes horse of 2023 for Tapiture. With his 141 individual winners, Tapiture ranks fifth on the General Sire list. Darby Dan recently announced his 2024 fee at $7,500 S&N.
Here’s the Spider was seventh of eight through a half-mile in a tepid :50.01. Despite the slow pace in front of her, she began to gain on the leaders entering the final turn, and with a four-wide bid at the quarter pole, she began her final surge that carried her past City Scene in the final sixteenth to win by 1 ¼-lengths.
Owned by Jack Cannon, the chestnut filly has won two of three starts and earned $74,580. Here’s the Spider was bred by Susan K. King and is from the family of Grade 1 winner Magnificent Song.
