Tap Galore rallied strongly down the Louisiana Downs stretch on Saturday afternoon to win the track’s $75,000 Juvenile Fillies S. by 2 ½-lengths [WATCH RACE].
The 2-year-old daughter of Tapiture, who ran in last month’s D. S. Shine Young S., came from off the pace on Saturday. She was surrounded by horses on backstretch and well into the turn before finding an opening on the outside approaching the stretch. Once in the clear, the dark bay filly hit her best stride and rolled past Diamond Deal in the final furlong to win going away.
Tap Galore is owned by Stephen Thompson’s Thompson Racing LLC. She was bred by J. Adcock and Hume Wornall. Tap Galore is out of Bond’s Babe and is a half-sister to four-time stakes winner Chu Chu’s Legacy. Third dam Soviet Sojourn produced Grade 1 winner and sire Indian Charlie.
Tapiture has 100 winners to date this year, which tops the Fifth-Crop Sire list and ranks in the top 10 on the General Sire list. His six stakes winners in 2023 include Group 1 winner Jesus’ Team and multiple graded stakes winner Repo Rocks.
