The first day of the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds got off to a fast start for Tapiture when hip No. 87 went to prominent buyer Dennis O’Neill.
Consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales LLC, agent, the filly sold for $150,000 after breezing a furlong in a lively :09 4/5 during last week’s Under Tack show.
The Kentucky-bred bay out of Youngnflashy has a pair of winning siblings, including her full sister Cicciolina. The subject filly’s third dam Affirmatively was one of the top producers, with 12 winners and three stakes horses, and is the granddam of three Grade 1 winners.
With four crops of racing age, Tapiture is the only sire of his generation with more than 200 winners and 400 wins lifetime, ahead the likes of American Pharoah, Constitution and Tonalist.
Tapiture, who has six stakes horses this year, stands for $10,000 S&N.
