Nice as Pie made it four wins in a row with a commanding six-length victory in the $125,000 Serena’s Song S. on March 30 at Turfway Park.
The 3-year-old Tapiture filly is the third stakes winner this month for her sire and is undefeated in four starts this year, with her only loss coming last summer in her lone 2-year-old start.
Nice as Pie was last in the field of nine soon after the break in Saturday’s six-furlong contest. She was kept well off the fence and out of trouble as she began to pass horses going into the turn. Coming five-wide into the stretch, she rolled to the front under a hand ride and won going away in 1:09.87 on the synthetic surface.
Nice as Pie got her first stakes win on Feb. 10 in Turfway’s Valdale S. and is now 4-0-0 in five starts and has earned $233,775 for owner/breeder Dede McGhee.
The bay filly is out of the Include mare How Nice and is a half-sister to stakes winner Smokin’ Jay.
