Lotta Ott’s gallant victory in a six-furlong maiden special weight race Sunday at Saratoga made her Tapiture’s 10th winner from his initial crop of runners, the first Freshman Sire to achieve the milestone (VIDEO).
Lotta Ott broke out of the gate very sharply and was quickly joined Mundaye Call, who took over the lead and was up a length at the top of the stretch. Lotta Ott, on the rail, eased back and switched to her outside, then surged late to get up in the final strides in 1:10.61 for the six furlongs.
Lotta Ott is campaigned by Corales Racing and was bred by Jose Luis Espinoza. The bay filly is out of Lil Precious, who is a half-sister to the multiple graded stakes-winning filly Spring Venture. Lotta Ott sold for $110,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
Among Tapiture’s excellent first crop of runners are $100,000 Rick Violette S. winner Sky of Hook and two-time winner Axiomo.
