Tapiture’s Crisper triumphs in Alphabet Soup H. for third straight win

Crisper collared Fierce and Strong inside the final furlong to win the $100,000 Alphabet Soup H. Saturday at Parx, giving the 5-year-old son of Tapiture his second stakes win and third overall win in a row.

Going 1 1/16-miles on the turf, Crisper was content to bide his time near the back of the eight-horse field for the first half-mile. Fierce and Strong was strong on the front end around the final turn and into the stretch, but Crisper weaved his way between horses then struck the front in deep stretch to win by a half-length in 1:43.19 on the firm turf.

Winner of the Summer Fun S. at Penn National in his previous start, Crisper is now 5-6-3 in 21 starts, with earnings of $283,126 for owner/breeder Ascoli Piceno Stables, LLC.

Tapiture is once again this year among the top five on the General Sire by winners, with 140 and wins, with 2010, to date. He has accounted for a half-dozen stakes winners and a dozen stakes horses in 2024.
