Sweet Soddy J drew off late to win Saturday’s $80,000 Timonium Juvenile S. by three lengths and run his record to a perfect 2-for-2.
The 2-year-old son of Bee Jersey won her Aug. 10 debut at Colonial Downs by 3 ½-lengths, and nearly duplicated that performance on Saturday with another impressive display.
Shortly after the start, Sweet Soddy J was bumped soundly and lost most of his momentum. He recovered nicely and stalked the pace behind a trio of dueling frontrunners. He had to check again going into the final turn, and after being hard held, finally found an opening in upper stretch. He shot through the gap and came home an easy winner over Determined Driver.
Sweet Soddy J races for his breeder Built Wright Stables LLC and has earned $72,000 in his two wins.
Sweet Soddy J, the third stakes winner for Bee Jersey, has a pair of younger full sibling fillies. His dam Sweet Rhapsody was bred to Bee Jersey once again for 2024.
